...was our best attended for many a year...
Our thanks to everyone who made it such a great event..! Click
the link on the Yellow Badge for the photographic evidence...
So why do folk travel the length
and breadth of the UK to come to the Tartan Rally..? It's certainly not to
see Tommy's furry face grinning at them from the gloom of the control tent..! It
may be
the glorious scenery to be found en-route, or even the incredible
roads (no matter which direction you've travelled from...)
No.. it's none of these things... Quite simply,
it's the craic (pronounced "crack" - an old Gaelic word; Irish, not
Scottish, but now in common use throughout the English-speaking world... The
"Urban Dictionary" website describes it thus:
Craic (Noun)
Irish word for fun/enjoyment
that has been brought into the English language. Often used
when referring to recreation relating to alcohol
and/or music.
Gaelic:
'Bhi craic agus ceol againn' : (We had fun and music.)
Fun doesn't really cut it
though. It's more the general banter and good times had by all: "The
Craic..."
And I couldn't have described it
better myself... (Well... maybe..)
People come to Mercury MCC's Tartan Rally, for the Craic... It's a
damn good time for everyone (with the possible exception of Stuart, who
works himself into a standing coma over the weekend...)
This year's Tartan will be part of Mercury MCC's
60th Anniversary celebrations and we're already planning a bigger and better
party then any that have gone before... Better book those tickets now (see
Contacts page for
Rally Sec details) if you want
to come to that, it's strictly pre-book..!
If you want to
come to one of our rallies, or, if you want us to come to your rally...
Let us know, either by writing to
us at the address shown in the
CONTACTS
page or by
e-mailing
our Rally Secretary...
