I realise there can be some sensitivity and superstition amongst fellow motorcyclists surrounding the service we provide, and sincerely hope the timing of this isn’t inappropriate for any reason. Our founder, Reverend Paul Sinclair, is a keen biker and this earned him the nickname of the “Faster Pastor”! Paul felt it was wrong that a biker friend who died went on his last journey in a car so he set about designing and building a fully enclosed sidecar hearse. He fitted it to a Triumph Speed Triple and in 2002 established Motorcycle Funerals Ltd. He patented his design and now operates the only fleet of motorcycle and sidecar hearses in the United Kingdom. Several visitors to our busy stand at the 2011 BMF Kelso Bikefest raved about funerals we have done, while others said they wished they had known about us when relatives had passed away. We now have two bikes based in Scotland provided at one standard rate throughout the mainland. The most popular bike in the fleet has proved to be the Triumph Adventurer because of it’s classic styling sowe obviously had to have one here. Our other bike is the Suzuki Hayabusa hearse tested by Fast Bikes magazine – need I say any more! As bikers ourselves we seek to provide a fitting and dignified lastride for a person who, at some point in their life, has had aninterest in motorcycling. Thankfully almost all our funerals are either for old bikers who may not have been able to ride for years orbikers who have been ill, and many are for ladies. Using a motorcycle hearse reflects that person’s interests and lifestyle and 9 yearsexperience tells us that it can make a bad day a little bit brighter for families and friends. We can even go for a ride-out if the family wishes. I would be delighted if you would share this information with your members. I would also be pleased to bring an outfit along to one of your meetings or rallies to let your members see one as they are truly unique, but I would not do so unless invited or without club consent.
